Boycott Activision?

If you've been playing games for as long as me, you'll have probably been through a period where most of your favourite games starting up saying "EA Sports - It's in the game." These were the good old days where EA cared about making original games where 100% effort was put into it. Now, Electronic Arts are evil, only care about money, and milk each one of their games with mediocre sequels. Activision came along and everyone (including myself) were like "yay Activision, their games are sick," and they were... they did what EA stopped doing and did a better job. Call of Duty 4 is an Activision game and everybody loves it apparently, but now Activision are the evil ones.

This is probably the first time you've heard about this dude, but, Robert Kotick is the CEO, President and board member for Activision Blizzard and it seems that Robert Kotick is a very greedy man. We all know that we are in recession and you've probably felt it. There's probably loads of games that you've wanted to buy but can't afford to buy anymore. Robert Kotick feels that his company are also hurting as games are costing more to develop. Now, instead of doing what other game developers do such as giving incentives like free content if you but the game new so less people buy them pre-owned, he wants to increase the price of the games.

It's not just talk either. Modern Warfare 2 is being released at an RRP of £55. This is £5 more than the current RRP for games but the price depends on where you're buying the game from, which will obviously be increased by £5. Kotick wants games to cost even more than £55 which would mean that even more people will be able to afford even less games than they can at the moment. If Kotick gets his way and Activision's games are sold at £60 or more, then other games developers are going to follow, and you don't want that!

There's been talk about different ways to show Activision that we don't want this price hike to happen and it looks like a lot of them are going to happen. DON'T BUY ANY GAMES BY ACTIVISION! If you do... it's all you're fault. Don't do it maaaan.

Back to Burnout...

Wow, i'm pretty speechless. Activision are most probably my favourite company when it game to gaming, i owe them alot for call of duty 4 which is no doubt single handedly the best FPS to ever be released even after being out for two years.

£55 though? That's pushing it. I'm not sure if thats the regular edition or the 'hardened' metal case version with the limited edition artwork though. As for me, the true nerd in me shall be buying the 'Prestige' edition, which has the metal casing with limited edition artwork, book of development art, NIGHT VISION GOGGLES!!11one! and a free download for the original call of duty.

So yes, i am going to be a traitor, my apologies in advance!
